Photography Talks  @  Exploring The Liminal
Sunday 16th Sep at  2pm : Free and All Welcome
Talks by:
Camila Cavalcante : Socially engaged photography - Us For All Women
Camila is a visual artist from the north-east coast of Brazil, settled in the UK. With a background in journalism she is interested in investigating the conceptual, sentimental and social perception of art. Through the use of documentary photography, her work intertwines embroidery, video and installation to create a place in which the idea of ‘private’ and ‘public’ overlap and complement each other. Camila holds a Masters of the Arts degree from University of Westminster and was awarded two photography national prizes in her home country. She has taken part in over 30 exhibitions and three art residencies in Brazil, the US and the UK. Camila currently works for the London School of Photography.
Adam Fowler : Neart Nan Gleann - Documenting Scotland's hydroelectric infrastructure.
Adam is an Edinburgh based photographer working in landscape and documentary. His main interests are in how we interact with the landscape rather than a record of the landscape itself, how we control it for our own desires and the structures we build upon it. For most of his professional career Adam has worked in the video game industry but recently left to concentrate more on his photography.
Christi Macpherson : The Bridges
Phil Lavery : Exploring The Liminal -  Abstraction in times and places of transition.
Phil is a visual artist who lives and works on the west coast of Scotland. Drawn to geometry, proportion and light, Phil sees abstraction as a way to explore the hidden stories of things and believes beauty can be found anywhere - if you look close enough. He studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, is a Professional Artist Member of the Society of Scottish Artists and is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society.
Followed by A Shutter Hub Meet Up :
The Meet Up will be a chance to network, ask questions, make connections, share work and get feedback, and most of all, get inspired with a creative group of photographers. Attendees will then have the opportunity to do a 5 minute ‘show and tell’ of their work, so if you would like to bring some work to get feedback from the rest of the group please do.
The Meet Up is free to attend and all are welcome. Please let us know if you are coming, and if you would like to take part in the ‘show and tell’, by emailing : info@shutterhub.org.uk
