Now in its 161st edition, the IPE is a celebration of photography today offering insight into current trends and subjects whilst providing a platform for the photographers of tomorrow.

Presenting 100 beautiful, strong and accomplished images by 54 contemporary photographers, the IPE 161 will tour the UK through 2019, opening in the new RPS headquarters building in Bristol in February. Tour dates to be announced soon.

Selected photographers and the winners of the IPE 161 Gold, Under 30s Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards will be announced on 9th October 2018. View the full list of shortlisted photographers online, and some highlights from the shortlist on our Instagram feed.

About the IPE:

The International Photography Exhibition (formerly the International Print Exhibition) is steeped in history, having been held almost every year since 1854 - the year after The Society was founded. In the early years, the exhibition included work from some of the world's most eminent photographers including Julia Margaret Cameron, Roger Fenton, Edward Steichen and others. Now in its 161st year, it is the longest running exhibition of its kind in the world. Entry for the IPE 161 closed on 4 April 2018 at midnight BST.

In addition to exhibiting in the touring exhibition, selected photographers are eligible for several cash prize awards, totalling £4,250, aimed at helping to support future photographic projects. This includes a dedicated award of £1,500 for a photographer under 30 years of age.

- Open call with no categories, all genres and approaches eligible, including alternative photographic processes

- Selected by an experienced panel of photographers and industry professionals
